History of Cubism
Cubism was one of the first abstract modern art styles developed in the 1900s. Some popular founders of this art are Georges Braque from France and Pablo Picasso from Spain. Cubism art is based on creating a picture made of basic geometric shapes to portray a picture in an abstract visual way. According to Cubism history, it has roots in pointillism, Fauvism, and traditional folk sculpture from Africa. It is a type of art form that is characterized by geometric shapes, fractured forms, muted, depthless color, and unspecified edges. This type of art plays with the mind and the eye, as you see a picture dispersed in all sorts of geometric shape arrangements. This is why cubist pictures are sometimes referred to as looking at fractured glass. The main influential painter and artist who created it all was Paul Cezanne. He was the artist who began to look at nature in the eyes of shapes. Paul was the father of cubism. Cubism relates to photography in which many photographers can take a snap shot and edit it to look like some of Picasso’s work. Photographers that like abstract work use this art style of cubism to make their photos visually appealing by breaking up the photo into geometric shapes.
